THE COURSE
In this LONG hour session, you will stitch together with Sarah to explore the beauty of slow stitching – Sashiko.
You can bring non-patterned (plain) jacket or Gillet or top for create your own Sashiko stitch on and other materials for the workshop will be provided.
Sashiko, meaning ‘little stab’, is the Japanese art of stitching beautiful patterns using running stitch, often used to add decorative and/or reinforcement, texture & warmth to cloth or old garments. In this workshop, you will learn both the history & cultural background of Sashiko, as well as learn all the basic techniques & principle of the embroidery style, so you will be able to continue your practice at home.
Cancellation policy – Due to limited seating, we request that you cancel at least 3 days before a scheduled class. This gives us the opportunity to fill the class.
THE VENUE
Our workshop is located in Midsomer Norton (MSN) on High Street in a building built in the late 1800s “Italianate Style” with lots of natural light from big windows, there is a sanctuary café on ground floor. Please bring your own sewing machine however if you cannot bring it, please contact us in advance then we can arrange one for you. We are located on the first floor and unfortunately do not have disabled access.

THE AREA
Midsomer Norton used to be famous for coal mining area and has developed town. Little stream run through the main high street and free parking all through the town centre. Close to Bath (24 mins with drive, plenty of local bus are available to trip, it’s only 10.9 miles), 26 mins to Cheddar Cave (Mendip Hill), 15 mins to Shepton Mallet and within 30 mins, you can visit Longleat Safari park, Glastonbury (Clarks village for shopping) and Wells (one of the smallest cities in England). There are also great walking and cycling routes for anyone who is thinking of bringing along a non-sewing partner!

Sarah Designs all different sewing patterns such as bag, kids clothing and start developing adults’ pattern recently. She understands how to create or adopt patterns. Sarah has been teaching different environments and different age groups so she will guide you start to finish.
